Nanny Information and Medications safe during Pregnancy

This is the information on how we found our Nanny. It is a fantastic site for no matter where you live.

http://www.greataupair.com/index.cfm

I registered on a website called www.greataupair.com  It is free to post your profile, but in order to receive contact information for nannies you will need to pay a one time subscription fee of about $50 or $60

Once you find a nanny you like, then you can ask them questions via email or telephone. Interview them. Check references etc.

You then do up a contract,You then have them sign the contract.

Then you must place an ad in the Edmonton Sun or local paper for Friday/Saturday for a live-in-caregiver.  The cost  is $55.54 and the
ad should read:

F/T Live in Caregiver for __ children ages  __ and ___.
Light housekeeping and cooking needed.  $1625.14 less $315
room and board.
 Contact _____ .

The cost is monthly $1,100.67 payable to the nanny and $314.83 payable to the government for EI/CPP contributions etc.So the total  monthly cost is $1,415.50.

You then need to submit an online Foreign Live-in Caregiver  Application for a Labour Market Opinion which can be found here:
http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/fwp_application.shhtml

There is no cost for the Labour Market Opinion.  This  should take 2-3 weeks. Once it comes back you can then send that to the nanny who will  then apply for the work permit on their end.  There should be no cost to you for this. Most nannies will pay their own expenses, application fees,  airfares etc.

Once your nanny confirms they received the work permit and are  coming, you will need to set up a payroll account with revenue Canada. This is an online procedure and takes about 5 minutes.

So basically I paid $110 to get a great nanny versus $800 to an agency who really didn't know or understand my family needs or dynamics.

We started the application January 15th,2008 and our Nanny is scheduled to arrive mid-June 2008, so about 6 months.

If you have any other questions, let me know.See me contact page.
